Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFull-time Quality Inspector Lab TechnicianState-of-the-Art Aerospace ManufacturerJob SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Full-time Quality Inspector Lab Technician to join our state-of-the-art aerospace manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metallurgy, testing procedures, and fastener technology. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our aerospace components, contributing directly to the safety and performance of aircraft worldwide.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive quality inspections on aerospace components, with a focus on metallic parts and fastenersPerform various metallurgical tests and analyses to ensure material compliance with industry standards and customer specificationsOperate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment for material testing and analysisEvaluate fastener integrity, including tensile strength, shear strength, and fatigue resistancePrepare detailed reports on inspection findings and test resultsCollaborate with engineering and production teams to address quality issues and implement improvementsMaintain accurate records of all quality control activities and test resultsEnsure compliance with aerospace industry standards, including AS9100 and NADCAP requirementsParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality control processesStay updated on the latest developments in metallurgy, testing methods, and aerospace quality standardsDetailed ResponsibilitiesMetallurgical ExpertiseAs a Quality Inspector Lab Technician, you will be expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge in metallurgy. This includes:Conducting microstructure analyses using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)Performing hardness testing, including Rockwell, Brinell, and Vickers methodsCarrying out chemical composition analysis using spectrometers and other analytical instrumentsEvaluating heat treatment processes and their effects on material propertiesIdentifying and analyzing material defects, such as inclusions, porosity, and grain boundary issuesProviding expert advice on material selection and processing to optimize component performanceTesting ProficiencyYour role will involve a wide range of testing procedures crucial for aerospace quality assurance:Conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, including ultrasonic, radiographic, and magnetic particle inspectionPerforming mechanical testing, such as tensile, compression, and fatigue testsExecuting environmental testing to simulate extreme conditions faced by aerospace componentsCalibrating and maintaining testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of resultsDeveloping and implementing new testing protocols as required by evolving industry standards or customer specificationsAnalyzing test data using statistical methods to identify trends and potential quality issues
