Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummaryUnder the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on manufactured products during all stages of production and completes final inspections before shipment. The Quality Inspector may also inspect incoming materials for accuracy and defects. This position will ensure that products meet engineering standards and customer quality expectations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.Inspect products at various stages of production to ensure all shop floor quality checks are completeInput information into the QC softwareEnsure all in-process inspection documentation is signed and in orderDiscuss quality issues with the production leads and supervisors to resolve issues timelyParticipates in root cause analysisPrepares and analyzes incident reportsParticipates in quality related training programsPrepare vendor audit paperworkPrepare internal auditsWork schedule may cross shifts to ensure common practiceInter-plant travel for knowledge sharing and coverageTravel to vendors and company facilities to perform in-process inspectionsQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Minimum of 3 years’ experience in steel fabrication or relevant industryMinimum of 1 year experience in a quality roleKnowledge of welding and weld inspectionPrevious experience in an ISO quality systemUnderstanding of quality systems and processes, to include root cause analysisAbility to identify process issues and offer solutionsAbility to identify manufacturing issues and offer solutionsKnowledge of ASNT – SC1/ASQ inspection processes preferredMust be committed to qualityAbility to work in a cross-function team environmentEducation and/or ExperienceHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredPost high school education or a technical degree or certificate is preferred1-3 experience in a manufacturing setting requiredFamiliarity with the Steel industry highly preferred. Other Skills Excel skills preferred Microsoft OfficeAbility to solve problems professionally and independently, in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines Strong analytical skillsStrong organizational, time management skillsAttention to detailExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Language SkillsAbility to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
