Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOVERVIEWFRANKLIN INDUSTRIES is looking to hire a Weights and Measures Inspector to its Quality team. This position is essential to the company's success by collaborating with the quality team, production departments, and other company stakeholders to ensure our customers receive a quality product.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESBack-up to Quality Manager for critical daily tasks and incidentsEmergency Back-up for the Mill InspectorEnsure daily checks on scales are being performed and conduct annual calibrationsHold production managers responsible for preventive maintenance on the scalesEnsure that all permits necessary for operating scales are maintained and posted as requiredPresent for startup of daily mill operations, in conjunction with the Mill InspectorDirect and provide guidance to the Mill Inspector as needed.Responsible for inspecting material as it proceeds through the Mill and Shear processesObserve and maintain all tolerances on mill productsCommunicate potential problems to downstream production departmentsReport and document product dimensionsPerform ISO Audits assignedPerform gage calibration to ANSI standards throughout the plant and document in Gage Tracker Database as neededPerform weekly physical properties testing (Tensile)Train Mill Inspector How to Perform Tensile TestsInspect material for powder coating and galvanizing at least twice dailyInspect product samples before shipment to customers, complete certification of those samples, and ensure those samples truly represent the product lineProvide feedback/findings to ensure proper adjustments and verify the effectiveness of the adjustments madeInvestigate and determine the amount and scope of nonconforming products in production departmentsTag nonconforming material and notify Material Review Board (MRB) of occurrencesOther duties as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or equivalent is requiredPrevious experience performing quality inspections throughout and after the production process is necessaryPrevious experience in completing certificates of conformance is necessaryFormal training in product quality management is preferredPrevious experience in a manufacturing environment, especially in a steel mill, would be a plus.SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust be a self-starter and be able to stay on-task with little-to-no supervisionMust be able to communicate effectively and professionally, both in writing and verballyMust be able to work effectively in a team environmentMust be able to perform basic arithmetic, geometry, and algebra at a proficient level, as it applies to practical applications in a manufacturing environmentWORKING CONDITIONSThis is a safety-sensitive position which requires the employee to work around and/or operate heavy machinery. This position will require the employee to work around moving mechanical parts and vibrations. This position will require the employee to be in the presence of fumes, gasses, fluids, and chemicals. PPE, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe boots, and gloves are required to perform this job.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe employee in this position is required to perform the following tasks either with or without (a) reasonable accommodation(s) as defined by the ADA:Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of timeMust be able to bend, crouch, and kneel at timesMust be able to climb onto and off of equipmentMust be able to lift: 5-50 lbs on a frequent basis and 50+ lbs on an occasional basisMust be able to use arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers for various repetitive motionsMust have good eye acuity, depth perception, and field of visionSTARTING PAY - Between $18 and $26/hour, depending on experience. (OT is paid at 1.5x pay after 40 hours).
