Summary: An international distributor of military and defense-related mechanical components is seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to lead and execute its Quality Management System. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in mechanical manufacturing or machining environments, with the ability to interpret technical specifications, perform inspections, and oversee quality systems from end to end. This role requires a balance of hands-on inspection work, quality system ownership, and technical documentation, along with clear communication across internal teams, suppliers, and customers. Key Responsibilities: Lead daily quality and inspection activities, including workload oversight and team coordination Perform hands-on inspections, including First Article Inspections (FAIs), as needed Interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to verify product compliance Own non-conformance management, including root cause analysis and corrective action (CAPA) Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, procedures, and policies Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality standards Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections for mechanical components Review and approve documentation such as Certificates of Conformance and inspection records Manage calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment (M&TE) Program, operate, or support CMM-based inspections as needed Coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve quality issues Communicate quality-related updates clearly with customers and internal stakeholders Qualifications: 5+ years of Quality Management experience Quality experience in a machining or mechanical manufacturing environment Strong hands-on experience performing precision inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM equipment Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications Experience with First Article Inspections (FAIRs), inspection reports, and quality documentation Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems Experience with non-conformance resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting
