Quality Assurance Supervisor Food Manufacturing at BlackStar

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our growing food manufacturing team in Midlothian this key leadership role you will ensure that all products meet the highest standards of quality safety and regulatory compliance. You will lead a dedicated QA team manage food safety programs and partner closely with production teams to drive continuous improvement in product quality and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Supervise train and motivate the Quality Assurance team to ensure strong performance and compliance with company policies. Oversee daily quality control activities including production paperwork reviews batch record audits and sanitation inspections. Lead investigations into deviations nonconformances out-of-spec results and customer complaints ensuring timely and effective corrective actions. Maintain regulatory compliance with GMP FDA HACCP and food safety standards across the facility. Conduct internal audits and maintain QA/QC documentation in a state of audit readiness. Manage supplier qualification records and oversee training programs to ensure compliance and completeness. Monitor key food safety programs such as GMPs HACCP allergen control cleaning and sanitation pest control and environmental monitoring. Support calibration preventive maintenance and process validation programs. Assist in the development implementation and review of Food Safety and Food Defense Plans. Participate in FDA NSF Kosher Halal and state inspections or audits. Collaborate with production and R&D to identify opportunities for process and quality improvements. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Chemistry Biology Food Science Microbiology Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field. 3 to 4 years of supervisory experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control within a food nutraceutical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Experience working on the production floor in a manufacturing facility. Strong understanding of GMP HACCP CAPA and FDA food safety regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word) and database or manufacturing software; experience with Oracle is a plus. Excellent problem-solving communication and leadership skills. Preferred Certifications PCQI HACCP or CAPA certification is highly preferred. Why Join Us Competitive compensation and benefits package.
