Fire Science Training CoordinatorMcHenry County CollegeSalary: $24.88 - $35.12 HourlyLocation: Crystal Lake, ILJob Type: Staff - Part-TimeJob Number: 202500213Division: Academic AffairsDepartment: Business, Social Sciences & Public ServicesFLSA: Non-ExemptBargaining Unit: STATarget Hire Rate: $26.33 - $29.26Pay Grade: S8Workweek 20 - 29 Hours | Flexible schedule to meet department needs to include possible evenings and weekends.Position Summary The Fire Science Training Coordinator will coordinate the operation of all Fire Science facilities including scheduling, organizing, supplying, and maintaining laboratory areas in support of the ongoing educational program in Fire Science. They will work closely with the Director of Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Dean of Business, Social Sciences and Public Services to meet departmental needs.Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Maintain and monitor the security and safety of the Tower, House, supply closet, classroom, engine, ladder truck, and storage facilities. This includes stocking, storing, and dispersal of supplies, equipment, and materialsAssist Director of Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services with class scheduling for credit, non-credit and Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) AcademiesAssist Director of Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services with budget preparation by submitting lists of supplies and materials as neededMaintain inventoryMaintain semester schedules of labsMonitor and replenish supplies as neededCoordinate operation and maintenance of Fire Science laboratory equipment. Monitor equipment performance; repair as needed or contact vendor(s) for supportOrder supplies and equipment as needed. Travel to local suppliers for pickup of materials, as needed.Maintain safety procedures for Fire Science trainingMaintain BOF Academy training manualWork collaboratively with others (e.g., colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilitiesProvide additional support to the Fire Science program, as neededAssume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisorGain and maintain familiarity with Office of State Fire Marshall website and have the ability to maintain MCC items on that websiteRequired Qualifications Associate degree in Fire Science or a related field from a regionally accredited institution, or experience commensurate with the positionTwo years of fire service leadership experienceDesired Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Science or a related field from a regionally accredited institutionSkills and Specifications:Ability to be self-motivated, self-directed, and to work independently, yet have a strong team orientation; must also be able to develop productive working relationships at all levels of the organizationProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and InternetStrong attention to detail and organizationAbility to effectively communicate verbally and in writingOrientation to quality and delivering excellent customer service Ability to adapt in a dynamic environmentAbility to grow with technology and philosophical directions implemented by the CollegeKnowledge of inventory management Ability to follow written and verbal instructionsAbility and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Ability to safely lift at least 50 pounds unassistedStrong interpersonal and collaboration skillsCommitment to ongoing professional developmentCommitment and respect for diversity, equity and inclusion Commitment to the College mission, vision, strategies, and goals Equal Employment OpportunityMcHenry County College declares and reaffirms a policy of equal opportunity and non-discrimination.
