R&D Discovery LCMS Associate Scientist at Idexx

The R&D Discovery and Technology Futures Team at IDEXX Laboratories is seeking a motivated early career Associate Scientist to join our LCMS group in advancing the next generation of multiomic biomarker this highly collaborative role you will work alongside a team of talented scientists at the BS MS and PhD levels to support biomarker discovery projects that drive innovation in veterinary diagnostics. The successful candidate will be innately curious about mass spectrometry and proteomics eager to develop technical expertise with cutting-edge instrumentation and thrive in a fast-paced scientifically diverse environment.In this role you will contribute to large-scale biomarker discovery studies using state-of-the-art UPLC-MS/MS platforms. You will work closely with a scientifically diverse team with expertise in proteomics glycoproteomics metabolomics and lipidomics to process and analyze complex biological samples from blood urine tissue and fecal matrices. This position offers significant opportunities for hands-on learning and professional growth as you develop mastery of advanced analytical techniques and contribute to projects that directly impact animal health.What Youll Do:Perform large biomarker studies including sample preparation fractionation UPLC-MS/MS analysis and data processing across diverse sample typesPrepare materials execute experiments gather and analyze data and reach conclusions with guidance from senior team membersUse cutting-edge instrumentation and analysis software to explore the world of proteomics glycoproteomics metabolomics and lipidomicsPerform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of UPLC and mass spectrometry systemsDocument experiments and lab activities with meticulous attention to detail; prepare reports and summaries; present results and conclusions to team membersOrder and maintain necessary reagents consumables and laboratory suppliesCollaborate with multiple cross-functional teams to support new product development and on-market productsContribute to method development and optimization efforts for novel biomarker assaysWhat You Need to Succeed:Bachelors degree in Chemistry Biochemistry or related fields with 0-3 years of relevant experience in mass spectrometry proteomics or analytical chemistry (industry or academic research)Hands-on laboratory bench and instrumentation skills including experience with chromatography and/or mass spectrometry systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detailAbility to quickly learn new techniques and adapt to changing prioritiesExcellent organizational and time management abilitiesStrong communication skills both verbal and written with ability to present data clearlyAbility to work independently and cooperatively as part of a teamDemonstrated initiative accountability and ownership of assigned tasksHighly Desirable:Experience with UPLC-MS/MS systems particularly Thermo instruments (Vanquish UPLC Orbitrap or Q Exactive platforms)Familiarity with proteomic sample preparation techniques (protein extraction digestion fractionation)Exposure to proteomic or metabolomic software packages (e.g. Proteome Discoverer Skyline MaxQuant Compound Discoverer)Experience working with biological matrices such as plasma serum urine or tissuePhysical Demands and Work Environment:Laboratory setting with varying levels of noise and exposure to various potential chemical and biological hazardsCompliance with approved laboratory practices is requiredExtensive sitting standing and computer useAbility to extend and reach with hands and armsMay be required to lift move and carry up to 50 poundsOccasional travel may be requiredWhat You Can Expect From Us:Base salary range starting at $62000 based on experienceOpportunity for annual cash bonusHealth / Dental / Vision Benefits Day-One5% matching 401kAdditional benefits including but not limited to financial support pet insurance mental health resources volunteer paid days off employee stock program foundation donation matching and much moreIf youre looking for a role thatll challenge you offer a variety of work and learning opportunities in a cutting-edge analytical field while helping an amazing industry wed love to hear from you!Why IDEXX:Were proud of the work we do because our work matters.
