This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint Assembly on a full-time basis.The role:As a Paint Automation and Continuous Improvement Lead you will coach train develop and evaluate employees. You will provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations in addition to the following:Nearly constant contact with others outside the work groupAdministers divisional and Corporate policiesMeets cost schedule and quality requirementsMaintains Corporate and unit management control systems budget and other information necessary to monitor performance in addition to maintaining safety and good housekeeping standardsComplies with the terms of local and national labor agreementsAssist in the forecasting of areas of responsibility and Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job or projectWork involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment. Assists in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities.Responsible to manage salaried employees in the implementation and execution of the established business process for the department and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety People Quality Responsiveness Cost and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems. Supervise a group of salaried employees involved in multiple departments and processes.This role will provide technical leadership and guide your teams toward the successful execution of manufacturing processes. Develop new processes standards or operational plans in support of the organizations business strategies with a direct impact on business and/or function overall results. Influence others within the organization to accept new concepts practices and approaches. Work may include identifying problems updating or modifying working methods that may be complex in their work area without the benefit of defined procedures while promoting GMs values and makes customer-focused decisions.Job Responsibilities:Support/Manage the manufacturing operations and paint automationPromotes educates communicates and follows up on safety initiativesAssists in obtaining resources to effectively perform operationsExcellent proven communication skillsPlanning and organizational abilityKnowledge of GM Global Manufacturing SystemsKnowledge of quality control procedures manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operations (PCPs 6 Pillars ABC Metrics)Provide leadership for SPQRCE for the department and lead the SPQRCE initiativesKnowledge of the total production processChampion of allocated BPD activitiesDiscuss weekly production plan with production controlIncorporate training requirements in productionWorks with maintenance on maintaining the TPM programExecute CIP workshopsLiaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasuresDemonstrated experience and ability negotiating with the union leadership and managing both salary and hourly personnel concernsManage budget and achievement of productivity improvementsInteracts with Local ME on processing lay out and tooling for current and future productsMinimum Requirements:5 years of manufacturing experienceBachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experienceExperience with process controls plansAbility to travel when needed
