ABOUT THE ROLE

The Raw Materials Technician plays a key role in supporting safe, efficient quarry operations by operating heavy mobile equipment and assisting with raw material extraction, movement, and stockpile management. This role requires strict adherence to safety policies, the ability to adapt to changing tasks and equipment needs, and strong communication across the quarry team. The position also includes physical labor tasks and material handling as required.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, report hazards, and participate in safety meetings
  • Support site environmental requirements and follow MSHA and company standards
  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy mining equipment, including: 992K & 992G Loaders, 6030 Shovel, 777 Haul Trucks, D11 Dozers, Water Trucks and Drills & Graders
  • Complete pre-use inspections, follow lock-out/tag-out, and report equipment issues
  • Assist in quarry operations, stockpile management, and haul road maintenance
  • Perform manual tasks as required, including shoveling, assisting with maintenance support, site cleanup, and material handling
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials as outlined in the physical requirements section
  • Work outdoors in varying terrain, weather conditions, noise levels, and temperature extremes
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with quarry personnel
  • Communicate effectively with the Quarry Supervisor and Quarry Manager
  • Adapt to changing priorities, equipment, and production needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support plant and quarry operations
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Required Work Experience: Minimum 1 year experience operating heavy equipment; surface mining experience preferred
  • Welding, cutting, and mechanical troubleshooting skills a plus
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, SAP preferred)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as required
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math in English
  • Strong safety mindset and reliable work habits
  • Ability to remain aware and focused in a high-hazard environment
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Self-starter able to work independently and follow instructions

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
