Recreation Program Instructor Preschool at City of Lenexa

The City of Lenexas Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a Recreation Program Instructor to teach Preschool Pals a fun and engaging early childhood program at the Lenexa Rec Center. This role helps create a positive first learning experience for children ages 3.55 by leading activities preparing lessons and fostering a welcoming environment.Schedule:This position works up to 12 hours per week primarily on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. This is a year-round part-time position.Position Summary:The Recreation Program Instructor leads preschool-aged participants through a variety of enriching activities including arts and crafts science projects activity centers and other hands-on learning experiences. The instructor develops and delivers curriculum that supports creativity exploration and social development serving as a positive representative of the City of Lenexa.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and prepare engaging curriculum and lesson plans for Preschool Pals programming.Lead and supervise program participants in classroom activities.Assist with promoting classes including preparing content for Town Talk and other marketing materials as requested.Help create a fun safe and inclusive environment for all participants.Maintain program materials and assist with classroom setup and cleanup.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED.Two years of experience in instruction childcare or customer service.First Aid/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.Valid drivers license.Starting rate of pay is $16.50 per hour with annual raises.Physical and Environmental Factors: Work may take place both indoors and outdoors.
