Perks and BenefitsFree city-paid employee health coverage, additional for spouse or familyCity Employee Health & Wellness Center for healthcare services5 weeks Paid Time Off (sick & vacation)11 paid holidaysPension plan City-paid life and long-term disability insuranceOptional Vision and Dental PlansTuition reimbursementGym membership reimbursementAnd much more!Key ResponsibilitiesPerforms/assists in planning, organizing, scheduling, promoting and implementing assigned programs and activities, i.e., stage productions, large-scale special events, pre-school youth programs, special populations programs, skate park programs, leagues, tournaments, exhibitions, parties, boating, fishing, marine-based programming, outdoor/environmental education, tours and target population group trips.Instructs, coaches, officiates, and/or supervises indoor and outdoor activities according to assigned program(s) guidelines and objectives.Coordinates volunteers in clean up, maintenance, landscaping, and/or educational/recreational programs in various city parks and preserves.Develops and maintains volunteer program policies and procedures. Promotes volunteer programs through public speaking engagements with local non-profits, corporate partners, homeowners' associations, etc.Schedules and performs inspections of assigned Parks and Recreation facilities. Prepares and submits comprehensive inspection reports including identification of maintenance deficiencies, safety concerns and needed replacements to maintain compliance with department guidelines and standards.Responds to inquiries, requests for assistance, complex issues and complaints involving amenity, facility, or maintenance related issues; investigates complaints, recommends corrective action and ensures completion of work.Prepares various records and reports according to supervisor directives and/or state mandates, i.e., attendance, accident, incident, daily program logs, contracts, cash summary and requisitions, check requests, sales tax.Collects, records and deposit fees or funds, maintaining appropriate accounting according to established departmental policy and procedure.Maintains adherence to established budgetary guidelines for generating city revenues while simultaneously providing valuable services to community citizens.Performs scheduling tasks in areas such as transportation, facility use, equipment maintenance and repair, and rescheduling when necessary.May act as liaison with Fleet for maintenance and repair of assigned vehicles.Arranges facilities and equipment, ensuring proper supply, set-up, and condition to maintain security and safety for both personnel and patrons.Orders food, concessions, or other supplies/products as needed.May determine program needs based on population served and community interests, prepares and reviews program evaluations, researches trends in program areas and determines price structure for programs offered.Coordinates indoor and outdoor activities according to assigned program(s) guidelines and objectives.Assists with promotional activities and prepares promotional materials as directed, i.e., programs/classes offered, soliciting sponsorship, website updates, public service announcements, special event flyers, program guides, fundraisers, coordinating with community partners as applicable.Assists with program issues or concerns and plans trainings and meetings as assigned.May be required to operate a motor vehicle and transport individuals in performance of assigned tasks.Plans, coordinates, and implements athletic programs, leagues, community liaison for athletic events with the community, schools, and outside organizations.Coordinates logistics for tournaments and outreach athletic programs with schools, Lee County Tourism and Primary athletic users.Minimum QualificationsEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma/GED.Two (2) years of experience in parks and recreation, outdoor and environmental recreation, athletics/sports, or related field.One (1) year of experience in recreation AND one (1) year of experience in athletics.Licenses or Certifications Must possess or obtain cash handling training if applicable within ten (10) days of hire or promotion.Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.CPR, First Aid, HIV and Blood borne Pathogens within ninety (90) days of hire or promotion.Please review the full job description by clicking on the link below.
