Most importantly our employees are part of a team that makes a real difference in the communities we live and work in.Job Summary:Location: Methodist HospitalAddress: 8303 Dodge St Omaha NESchedule: Mon Tues Thurs 8:30 AM - 5:00 PMComplete assessments and develop individual treatment programs to restore remediate and rehabilitate a persons level of functioning and independence in life.Responsibilities:Essential Job FunctionsProvides appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient to ensure understanding and comfortable level of treatment as outlined in the Age Specific Criteria.Demonstrates ability to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs.Provides patient focused treatments to achieve maximum functional improvement.Evaluates the patients rehabilitation and functional needs.Sets goals and implements treatment plan components established through these findings.Meets patients recreational therapy needs.Delivers and when appropriate delegates to other health care team members therapy services to the patient based on the patients assessed needs physician orders and patient preferences.Contributes to the interdisciplinary care plan.Documents evaluations.Sets and revises goals.Evaluates and documents progress.Participates in patient conferences.Maintains positive relationships with patients and families/significant others to ensure patient satisfaction.Effective interpersonal communication.Involvement of patient and family in treatment goal planning.Achievement of desired outcomes.Supports the patient care team and contributes to the delivery of patient focused care.Exchanges information and coordination of treatment plan components.Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and other health care team members.Contributes to quality improvement.Assists in the development of new clinical programs.Evaluates and revises clinical care processes.Contributes to the delivery of high quality services.Maintains knowledge of current treatment practices by reading appropriate books and journals giving presentations and attending approved seminars and conferences.Schedule:Mon Tues Thurs 8:30 AM - 5:00 PMJob Description:Job RequirementsEducationBaccalaureate degree in Recreational Therapy required.Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory education requirements.ExperienceMust have 9 to 12 months clinical experience in acute or long-term care setting.License/CertificationsNational Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS) required.Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire required within 3 months of hire.Skills/Knowledge/AbilitiesAbility to evaluate treat and develop treatment plan components for physically cognitively and/or mentally impaired adolescent adult and geriatric populations.Physical RequirementsWeight DemandsMedium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force.Physical ActivityOccasionally Performed (1%-33%):ClimbingCrawlingCrouchingKeyboarding/typingKneelingSittingFrequently Performed (34%-66%):BalancingCarryingDistinguish colorsFingering/TouchingGraspingLiftingPulling/PushingReachingRepetitive MotionsSpeaking/talkingStandingStooping/bendingTwistingWalkingConstantly Performed (67%-100%):HearingSittingJob HazardsNot Related:Equipment/Machinery/ToolsExplosives (pressurized gas)Electrical Shock/StaticRadiation Alpha Beta and Gamma (particles such as X-ray Cat Scan Gamma Knife etc)Radiation Non-Ionizing (Ultraviolet visible light infrared and microwaves that causes injuries to tissue or thermal or photochemical means)Rare (1-33%):Chemical agents (Toxic Corrosive Flammable Latex)Mechanical moving parts/vibrationsOccasionally (34%-66%):Biological agents (primary air born and blood born viruses) (Jobs with Patient contact) (BBF)Physical hazards (noise temperature lighting wet floors outdoors sharps) (more than ordinary office environment)About Methodist:Nebraska Methodist Health System is made up of four hospitals in Nebraska and southwest Iowa more than 30 clinic locations a nursing and allied health college and a medical supply distributorship and central laundry facility.
