Job Description

Interested staff members are required to complete the following on-line application to the attention of: The Recruitment Team. This temporary position is effective immediately and is ending on or about October 30 2026 due to a vacancy. The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) supports a flexible working culture and currently provides the opportunity for employees to work from home in addition to working in the office for some positions. The YRDSB implemented Working From Home Guidelines to facilitate this work option. Please note this does not apply for school based positions. In compliance with Board policies and procedures responsible for providing administrative support to recruitment and retention related activities of the Board in accordance with collectiveagreements guidelines and legislative requirements. Major Responsibilities: To coordinate schedule facilitate and monitor and provide technical support during interviews practicums (written submission) and reference checks for all levels of stakeholders virtually and -in person while ensuring diversity and equity. To support the full cycle recruitment process of various Union and Non-Union employee groups including mass casual/daily occasional hiring (teaching & support staff); competitions/positions; caretaker and maintenance staff; and additional Occasional Teacher (OT) hiring processes. To monitor and support the Boards recruitment and selection processes update interview results and ensure that applicant databases are current. To create post and advertise internal and external job vacancies on Board maintained sites and external mediums as required. To coordinate and facilitate new employee onboarding and orientation sessions in collaboration with Unions and internal departments and to collect/submit the completed employee documentation. To inform liaise assist and advise internal and external clients of the Board on hiring practices application processes qualifications requirements documentation and website access. To provide ongoing support to all levels of staff candidates and members of the community on applicant tracking system (i.e. Apply To Education). To coordinate and participate in virtual and in-person orientation days career fairs open houses and recognition and retention initiatives and network with community members and internal staff. To request collect and facilitate police checks: Police Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC) Enhanced Police Information Check (EPIC). To assist hiring managers in conducting candidate searches based on qualifications and selection criteria using applicant tracking system (i.e. ATE). To collect hiring statistics including diversity and ethnic data regarding all aspects of the Boards recruitment processes. To comply with the file retention timelines and complete records management (i.e. Closing Shredding Return labels). To apply for Temporary Letters of Approval (TLA) and Letter of Permission (LOP) using ONSIS. To perform other duties as assigned. Line of Responsibility: Responsible to the Manager Recruitment and Retention. Education Experience and Qualifications: A two year college diploma in human resource management or a related discipline is required or equivalent as approved by the Board. Minimum one-year Human Resources or related experience is required. Familiarity with Applicant tracking systems Human Resources Information System virtual interviewing platforms and other Board approved software would be an asset. Important Information for CUPE 1734 Members: LA.11.7 Those twelve (12) month employees filling vacancies as a result of their applying to a job posting are to remain twelve (12) months at their position. Ten (10) month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year. This requirement can be waived with permission from the Superintendent responsible for Human Resource Services. This does not prevent employees from applying for a position or from applying for a promotion during the twelve (12) month period. LA.7.4 Those transferred to positions not covered by this Agreement will retain their seniority accumulated in the bargaining unit for a period of twelve (12) months or up to twenty-four (24) months by mutual agreement of the parties and if transferred back into the bargaining unit within the agreed upon period they shall be credited with all previously accumulated seniority within CUPE 1734 provided that no bargaining unit employee who has completed his/her probationary period shall be displaced as a result of such transfer. Parties may jointly agree to extend past the 24 months upon mutual agreement between the Board the Union and the Employee.
