Position Summary

The Regional Clinical Director (RCD) serves as a senior clinical leader overseeing dental care delivery, provider performance, and clinical quality across multiple practice locations. The RCD ensures consistent execution of clinical standards, supports practice-level leaders, oversees provider onboarding and training, and drives compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.

Scope

Reporting to the Vice President of Clinical Operations, the Regional Clinical Director oversees all clinical components of patient care, provider development, and treatment protocols within the assigned region. The RCD partners closely with Practice Managers, Lead Dentists, and operational leadership to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and efficient clinical workflows.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to dentists, hygienists, and clinical support teams across regional practice locations.
  • Oversee staffing levels and clinical operations across all offices, including support for evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Recruit, interview, and participate in hiring decisions for clinical personnel.
  • Oversee onboarding, credentialing, and orientation for new dentists, hygienists, and assistants.
  • Deliver ongoing clinical education, mentorship, and performance evaluations.

Operational & Clinical Oversight

  • Support offices in achieving clinical KPIs, production goals, and patient satisfaction targets.
  • Manage regional scheduling models, labor hour allocations, and overtime.
  • Assist practices with provider coverage, workflow optimization, and treatment planning consistency.
  • Oversee ordering and management of clinical supplies, equipment, and infection control materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited program.
  • Active, unrestricted dental license in the applicable state(s).
  • Minimum 2 years post-graduation experience in clinical dentistry; multi-site or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time‑management skills with the ability to motivate multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with dental practice management software and electronic health records.
  • Patient‑centered approach with commitment to high‑quality care.
