Sixty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized bythe Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department ofEducation (USDE) and four years full-time wage-earning licensed peace officer experience witha bona fide law enforcement agencyorthirty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized bythe CHEA or the USDE and six years full-time wage-earning licensed peace officer experiencewith a bona fide law enforcement agencyorten years full-time wage-earning licensed peace officer experience with a bona fide lawenforcement agency.2. Experience in criminal or administrative investigations preferred.3. Experience in the supervision of employees preferred.4. Currently holds an active Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Texas PeaceOfficer license or meets the minimum standards for initial Peace Officer licensure set forth inTCOLE Rule 217.1 inclusive of having passed the TCOLE Peace Officer licensing examinationwithin two years of the Commissions receipt of the license application.* Applicants must pass the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) Physical PerformanceStandards test in order to continue in the selection process.Employees must annually pass the OIG Physical Performance Standards test or OIG JobSimulation test for continued employment.For details see: Knowledge and Skills1. Work involves assisting in the coordination ofactivities of staff engaged in the investigation of violations of department policies and procedures fraudemployee misconduct federal court orders and criminal law; and supervising the work of others. Worksunder limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSA. Assists in the development of schedules priorities and standards for achieving program goals;coordinates and assigns investigations and monitors work load and work output; assists in thepreparation of program guidelines policies procedures rules and regulations; assists in conductingprogram analysis studies to develop and recommend solutions to problems; and assists inimplementing solutions.B. Conducts criminal and administrative investigations to include obtaining relevant documentationinterviewing victims and witnesses and preparing correspondence; maintains liaison with unitmanagement and other law enforcement agencies; prepares and reviews reports of investigationsand program activities; and ensures the security of crime scenes.C. Assists in the preparation of training and operational manuals; and provides training and technicalassistance to investigators and other program staff.D. Performs law enforcement duties to include pursuit of offenders and criminals by foot and automobile;and assists in the restraint of offenders and criminals by using proven physical abilities ofcardiovascular endurance anaerobic power muscular strength and endurance explosive leg powerand agility.E.
