Job Description

Position Summary:Under the direct supervision of the Health and Wellness Director the Registered Dietitian position coordinates and conducts one-on-one consultations for members to discuss nutritional needs and sets appropriate goals for the participant. This position will also prepare and provide accurate relevant materials for members in regard to diet and nutrition as a part of consultations. The Registered Dietitian will assist with special events and guest lectures in programs as needed.Essential Functions:Offer one-on-one nutritional consultations to our members regarding a variety of topics including prevention and management strategies for weight-influenced conditions (diabetes heart disease high blood pressure) digestive disorders and food intolerances and plans for optimal wellness. Prepare and present special educational events and workshops on nutrition and healthy lifestyles.Motivate and educate members while fostering positive relationships.Exemplify the core mission values of the YMCA while performing all duties.Abide by all YMCA Health & Wellness department policies.Attend scheduled staff meetings and complete required YMCA training.OUR CULTURE:Our mission and core values are brought to life by our the Y we strive to live our cause of strengthening communities with purpose and intentionality every day. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.QUALIFICATIONS:Currently certified as a Registered DietitianMinimum four-year degree in nutrition or health sciences field.Prior experience teaching individual and group nutrition education.Programming background and experience are highly desirableAbility to interact effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Sufficient strength agility and mobility to perform essential functions of the position.Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency situation.Must be able to coordinate a variety of large and small tasks simultaneously and handle tension and stress in a positive manner.
