Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) – Oncology
SAGE Concord, CA
$29–$42 per hour, based on experience and skill set
$5.50/hour differential for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM
Full-time, 4/10 schedule (four 10-hour shifts per week, rotating schedule, 1 Saturday a month required)
About the Role
SAGE Veterinary Centers – Concord is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our new Oncology service that launched in the fall of 2025. This role supports board-certified veterinary oncologists in delivering advanced, compassionate cancer care within a collaborative specialty hospital environment.
As an Oncology RVT, you will be hands-on with chemotherapy administration, advanced diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, and patient advocacy, while supporting clients through emotionally complex treatment journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for oncology patients before, during, and after treatment
- Prepare and administer chemotherapy and oncology therapies under veterinarian supervision
- Follow strict chemotherapy safety and cytotoxic drug handling protocols
- Perform diagnostic testing including bloodwork, urinalysis, and imaging support
- Place IV catheters, collect samples, and monitor anesthesia
- Monitor patients for treatment response and adverse side effects
- Educate clients on treatment plans, aftercare, and home monitoring
- Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Ensure oncology treatment areas meet safety, cleanliness, and sterility standards
- Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and assistants during rounds and case discussions
Qualifications
- Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in good standing
- Minimum 1 year of specialty or emergency veterinary experience preferred
- Experience with or strong interest in veterinary oncology and chemotherapy protocols
- Strong technical skills including anesthesia monitoring and IV catheter placement
