The RCEsupervisor assists the Deputy Program Managerwith the management planning and supervision of staff and operations withinthe Wastewater Compliance Division. Theincumbentin this positionis expected to be reachable to supportafter-hours responses as needed.The WastewaterCompliance Division is responsible for statewide inspection and compliancemonitoring activities at municipal and industrial wastewater treatmentfacilities ensuring compliance with State and federal environmental laws andregulations concerning water pollution control through various enforcementstrategies.Work duties may involveexposure to uncomfortable or unpleasant surroundings including:Field Work: Consultations in inclement weather within wetlands sewage treatment plants or similar environments.Hazards: Potential exposure to chemicals dust or odors.Physical Exertion: Heavy lifting climbing traversing rough surfaces rock-lined ditches and crossing streams.Sampling: Handling chemical testing agents and taking samples involving potential exposure to harsh chemicals and toxic byproducts requiring the use of protective equipment such as goggles and gloves.The incumbent in thisposition may drive a State vehicle. If you maintain anout-of-state driving license you must provide a certified copy of your drivingrecord from the appropriate Motor Vehicle Administration at the time ofappointment. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
