Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: Mechanical Reliability Engineer (MIQA & RV Engineer)Position:Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)Location:On site,Richmond, VAJob Summary:A Mechanical Reliability Engineer support the area of process equipment maintenance and reliability. This role will support reliability improvement in particular as it is related to mechanical integrity and quality assurance (MIQA) and is aligned with the corporate PSM, M&R and sourcing objectives and standard practices.Responsibilities:Implement MIQA best practices. Track, document and communicate MIQA and associated M&R metrics, in cooperation with others such as the maintenance coordinator (e.g., fixed equipment inspection).Perform failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to develop appropriate equipment maintenance plans to include equipment checks and PPM performed by operators and mechanics. Enter the equipment checks and PPM plans into the appropriate system, such as SAP, Meridium, etc. Perform PPM effectiveness assessment at appropriate timing. Assess quality of the performed PPM tasks. Leverage standard PPM plans for similar equipment across the area.Train operators and mechanics on their role in reliability improvement and MIQA. Stay engaged with DPS processes to engage and develop shop floor capability.Perform RCFA when predefined trigger points are reached. Implement corrective and improvement plans resulting from the RCFAs.Analyze data (failure, cost, Uptime, NDT, etc) using appropriate reliability analysis tools to develop and implement improvement plans. Lead multi-disciplined reliability improvement teams.Perform or arrange for physical analysis as needed. Teach mechanics physical failure analysis and evidence preservation techniques.Work with site engineering, sourcing, manufacturing and site stores organization to develop and execute appropriate Quality Assurance (QA) practices. Assess effectiveness of QA practices.Work with site inspection group to ensure appropriate inspection technologies are being used and assess quality of inspection plans. Review inspection reports and analyze data to determine fitness for service, quality of inspection, appropriate inspection interval, etc. Use Risk Based Inspection methodologies where appropriate to determine appropriate inspection methodologies and intervals.Participate in first and second party PSM audits as a MIQA auditor.Ensure appropriate PPM activities are defined for PSM Critical equipment and set up schedule in appropriate system (i.e., SAP, Meridium Inspection Manager, Lube-It, etc).Maintaining the relief valve shops National Board accredited VR Stamp,Maintain and follow the Site VR Manua andLead the National Board audit every three years.Understands applicable MIQA statutory & regulatory requirements for all pressure relief devices. The MIQA Engineer should ensure that these requirements are incorporated into the MIQA systems and should monitor performance by the organization.Identifies and documents areas for improvement in alignment with S21A and statutory / regulatory MIQA requirements. Additionally, they collaborate with other PSM Element Leaders and Site leadership to align on improvement opportunities and efforts that relate to the PSM Program.Design & Testing Documentation,Reviewing and approving design records for all business units as needed,maintaining design records and travelers (electronic and hardcopy) and participate in design reviews for Management of Changes (MOCs) as requested by project teams.Keeping currents with applicable codes and standards (ASME, NBIC, API, PSM).Train new mechanics to become certified relief valve shop technicians and assure they maintain their refresher training and certifications.Support area mechanic training on relief device removal and installation.SAP (computerized maintenance management system).Ensure that pressure relief devices are being inspected on a pre-determined frequency.Working with vendors to ensure timely delivery of parts and valves.Inventory control management of PSM critical parts.Complete capacity calculations for every VR Stamped relief valve repair.Work with areas to follow appropriate Turn-a-round (TAR) best practices to ensure valves can be repaired in a safe and efficient manner, while not disrupting startup times. This will include coordinating testing of valves at 3rd party vendors when appropriate.Enter incident investigations into tracking system for failed relief devices.Perform reliability analysis of pressure relief devices to optimize testing frequencies.Participation in 1st and 2nd Party PSM audits.Provide guidance and direction to RV Shop mechanics.Capabilities Required for this Role (Knowledge Skills & Abilities):Education: Bachelors degree in engineering.5 years or more experience in the design, repairs, maintenance, reliability, failure modes, and/or inspection of chemical process equipment.Lean/Six Sigma experience beneficialExperience working with a National Board VR Stamped program (preferred but not required, will train.Software systems such as SAP PM, Meridium, UPbase, Microsoft Office tools.Continuous Improvement beneficial.National Board Valve Repair Certification (preferred but not required, will train).DuPont-Aramids is an equal opportunity employer.
