All of our system institutions place strong emphasis on service — helping to build healthier, more educated communities in South Carolina and beyond.South Carolina Retirement:YesState Insurance Programs:YesAnnual Leave:YesSick Leave:YesAdvertised Job Summary:Under the limited supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), this individual will conduct research on the genetics and genomics of Deer mice (Peromyscus).Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience:The position requires a PhD degree in biological sciences or a closely related field, plus a minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral research experience in genetics and genomics of laboratory mice by the start date of employment.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Expertise in genetics and genomics of Mus and Peromyscus, basic molecular biology techniques, bioinformatics, and gene sequence and lysis, as well as basic skills in computing, coding, and database management. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.Job Duty:Perform genomic whole genome sequencing and analyze the data to identify relevant variations.Essential Function:YesPercentage of Time:30Job Duty:Develop Peromyscus-specific antibodies for immune system-related antigens.
