RESEARCH ASSISTANT SCIENTIST - Electrical & Computer EngineeringJob No: 533922Work Type: Full TimeLocation: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)Categories: EngineeringDepartment: 19050000 - EG-ELECTRICAL - COMPUTER ENGJob Description Classification Title: RESEARCH ASSISTANT SCIENTISTJob Description: The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, time-limited, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Scientist. Initial appointment is for 1 year, reappointment is anticipated based on performance and funding. The faculty member will be expected to conduct research and development (R&D) on photonic integrated circuits (PIC) including, but not limited to pioneering, innovating, and prototyping. Optoelectronic component design/development/test Chip design and foundry engagements. Perform design technology co-optimization (DCTO) Perform photonic chip and device test. Perform data analysis. Synthesis or R&D result and prepare publications and dissemination material. Assemble and/or improve lab test environments. Identify and prepare applications to funding opportunities Mentor team/group members. Support educational mission through class laboratory support and WFD activities for CHIPS-related grants.Expected Salary: Salary to commensurate with education and experience.Minimum Requirements: PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ASIC and mixed-signal (including PIC) Design for ML/AI applications.
