Research Associate, Next Gen Sequencing at Colossal Biosciences

The Research Associate will take on large-scale genome sequencing initiatives for species conservation and de-extinction. They will expand on tools and methodologies to optimize sequencing data flow while maintaining and enhancing workflows to track samples from submission to data delivery.This position is based on-site in Dallas TX. Relocation assistance is available.Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare samples and perform high-throughput targeted amplicon sequencing workflowsImprove the state of the art of NGS for genome editing and genotypingUtilize and adapt robotic automation for NGS workflows (Firefly Plus)Maintain a working inventory for the sequencing coreMaintain a thorough and detailed electronic lab notebookMaintain a clean and organized laboratory spaceRequired Skills and Abilities:Capable of working in a fast-paced high volume sequencing core on parallel projects while maintaining accuracy and timely data transferExperience with high-throughput (HTP) nucleic acid purification and liquid handling (Ex. Firefly)Experience running HTP gel electrophoresis units (Ex. Agilent Tape Station)Self-motivated flexible proactive works well under pressure and deadlines detail-orientedEnthusiastic to learn new skills and take on new responsibilitiesCreative problem-solver who can perform technical trouble-shootingCommunicates clearly and proactively to ensure data delivery to stakeholdersPreferred Experience:Experience operating sequencing platforms (Ex.
