Salary/Position Classification$20.91/hour20 hours per week100% Remote Work Availability: NoHybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): NoPurpose of PositionThe purpose of this position is to assist with the ongoing digitization of the William Langer Papers and the Usher Burdick Papers as well as the creation of the Milton R. Young Papers available through the Chester Fritz Library. These activities are part of the newly formed Northern Plains Digital Initiatives Higher Education Consortium (UND Cankdeska Cikana Community College Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College Sitting Bull College Turtle Mountain Community College United Tribes Technical College). This Consortium is intended to address tribal college and Indigenous community archival needs involving the preservation digitization and curation of Indigenous knowledge and cultural heritage materials. The person in this position may also assist in community outreach curricular and co-curricular activities across the Consortium with the assistance of the Consortiums Digital Archivist and Tribal Liaison.Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist with the creation and/or building of UND-based Consortium-related digital humanities collections.Create/update technical documentation related to UND-based Consortium-related digital humanities collections.Guest lecture in undergraduate or graduate level classes in digital humanities or Indigenous research methods as requested.Support Consortium-related graduate student research assistants undergraduate interns and/or students enrolled in Digital Humanities classes in the building of collections as requested.Assist with the creation and/or building of UND-based Consortium-related digital humanities collections.Create/update technical documentation related to UND-based Consortium-related digital humanities collections.Guest lecture in undergraduate or graduate level classes in digital humanities or Indigenous research methods as requested.Support Consortium-related graduate student research assistants undergraduate interns and/or students enrolled in Digital Humanities classes in the building of collections as requested.Required CompetenciesAbility to collaborate effectively resulting in generative beneficial relationships with Indigenous peoples and communitiesAbility to digitize archival materials particularly print and photos.Ability to write technical documentation.Ability to lead professional development workshops and/or training students.Ability to interact positively and communicate effectively.Excellent project management skills.Ability to solve problems through creative and innovative leadership strong community engagement and a desire to authentically collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.Ability to organize prioritize and track tasks to meet objectives as they relate to position duties.Minimum RequirementsBachelors degree from an accredited institution in a humanities field (e.g. Indigenous Studies/Native American Studies/American Indian Studies English History Languages)Successful completion of a Criminal History Background CheckIn compliance with federal law all persons hired will be required to verify identityand eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.Preferred QualificationsMasters degree from an ALA accredited library school and/or masters degree from an accredited institution in a humanities field (e.g. Indigenous Studies/Native American Studies/American Indian Studies English History Languages).Knowledge of the tribes in North Dakota and surrounding region.Familiarity with reparative archival practices (e.g. the creation of inclusive metadata for digital collections/item description).One or more years experience building archival digital collections.Experience in managing culturally sensitive data and ethical conduct of research to protect Indigenous data sovereignty.To ApplyTo assure full consideration applications must be received by 11:55pm of closing date and include the following materials:ApplicationResumePlease reach out to Crystal Alberts with any questions at Required Experience:IC Key Skills Laboratory Experience,ELISA,Immunoassays,Mammalian Cell Culture,Biochemistry,Cell Biology,Research Experience,Cell Culture,Molecular Biology,Microscopy,Research Laboratory Experience,Western Blot Employment Type : Part-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
