The successful candidate will exploit aberration-corrected FEG-TEMs with tailored electron-optics and pixelated single electron detector systems operating in customised modes to deliver new information about key functional materials. Please see the Level A and Level B position descriptions below for full details.This research fellowship will be part of a diverse international research group led by Professor Joanne Etheridge and will enjoy a creative and collaborative environment for the development and application of electron microscopy methods and more broadly in the physics of imaging and materials science.The position will utilise instruments in the Monash Centre for Electron Microscopy which has a powerful suite of instrumentation including the Thermo Scientific Spectra-φ an advanced S/TEM with beam blanker multiple fast pixelated detectors and unique electron-optical elements to optimise performance in S/TEM. It is located on the Clayton Campus in a dedicated electron microscopy building specifically designed to provide exceptional mechanical thermal and electro-magnetic stability to optimise instrument performance.The successful applicant will have advanced understanding and knowledge in the theory and application of S/TEM and a PhD or equivalent qualification and will possess sound interpersonal skills along with excellent written and oral communication skills.About Monash UniversityAtMonash work feels different.
