Job DescriptionThe Role:The GM Defense Resident Engineer is responsible for manufacturing support and design change integration of several Vehicle subsystems. As the Resident Engineer you are involved with the latest technology for use on current and future GMD work! You will work with a high-performance team and will be the liaison between this team and the general assembly mfg team for multiple GMD programs.This position requires knowledge of design release responsibilities and knowledge of both high and low volume production. It is highly recommended to have knowledge of multiple low volume manufacturing processes and component design. Candidates for this position will need very little ramp up time and be able to contribute immediately to the program. Meeting and exceeding program milestones is critical from the beginning.What Youll Do:Coordinating design change request (DCR) breakpointsUnderstanding plant initiated DITs (Design Issue Tracker) and coordinating quick resolutions with the DREs at the Warren Michigan Engineering CenterDocumenting and following manufacturing / Supplier Quality initiated temporary work ordersInvestigating efficiency bottlenecks on the production line.Investigate commonization of components between ISV and HD SUV to save cost and inventory complexityUtilize Program Management knowledge to aid in achieving program milestonesCoach and lead suppliers to timely execution of program deliverables with perfection.Resolve highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research.Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.You will be skilled and proficient with a variety of the fields concepts practices and procedures.Rely mostly on extensive personal experience and discernment to plan and accomplish goals.Perform multiple tasks. Lead and likely direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):BS in Engineering or equivalent experience5 years engineering or manufacturing experienceExperience in vehicle design (experience as a military contractor is a plus)Knowledge of high and low volume suppliers within the Vehicle spaceUnderstanding of GD&T principlesBuild process trouble shooting experienceExperience at solving design/manufacturing issues quickly as part of a cross-functional teamExperience managing OEMs or suppliers on critical timelinesExperience resolving complex engineering issuesExperience presenting to a wide variety of audiencesExcellent collaboration skills with others within and outside of their direct organizationAbility to travel as needed to Warren Mi (Engineering HQ) or Milford Mi (Development Center)Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen U.S. permanent resident asylee or refugee)#GMD

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.

The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role.

This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
