Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary: The Residential Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents in accordance with facility menus, dietary restrictions, and food safety standards. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a welcoming dining environment and ensuring that all meals contribute to the comfort, health, and satisfaction of residents.Scope of Employment (SOE):Reports directly to the Director of Operations.Works collaboratively with the Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) and other support staff to ensure timely meal service.Maintains compliance with all state, local, and facility food safety and sanitation standards.Expected to maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times.Responsible for daily meal preparation, kitchen operations, and inventory control.Demonstrates professionalism, punctuality, and reliability as part of the facilitys care team.Promotes a positive, supportive atmosphere for residents and coworkers.Responsibilities:Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts according to facility menus and dietary guidelines.Follow special dietary needs and restrictions as required (e.g., diabetic, gluten-free, low sodium).Set up tables and dining areas with attention to cleanliness, order, and presentation.Deliver meals and trays to designated areas and ensure timely service to residents.Collect and clear dishes, utensils, and trays after meals.Wash dishes, cooking utensils, and equipment, ensuring sanitation standards are met.Discard leftovers appropriately and remove garbage from kitchen and dining areas.Clean food preparation surfaces, cooking equipment, and service areas regularly.Maintain and restock food supplies, condiments, and ingredients as needed.Monitor inventory levels and notify management when supplies are low.Assist with receiving, labeling, and storing food deliveries properly.Help maintain and report any maintenance needs for kitchen appliances and equipment.Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.Contribute to a positive and respectful environment that aligns with the organizations mission and values.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required.Previous experience as a cook in a residential, healthcare, or institutional setting preferred.Knowledge of food safety standards (ServSafe certification required).Ability to follow recipes and accommodate special dietary needs.Strong time management and organizational skills.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.Compassionate, dependable, and committed to quality care and service.
