The SWHYC motivates residents towards reaching self-sufficiency by providing the training and skills to further their education, employment, social and life skillsJob Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor, this position provides direct care services to homeless and at-risk youth.Conduct daily group life-skills coaching sessions.Conduct hourly room checks to ensure all residents are complying with daily schedule requirements.Monitor on-campus activities.Conduct intake and assessment procedures as required.Provide bus passes to residents as required.Complete resident discharge procedures (pack up belongings and clean out dormitory rooms) as required.Participate in staff development activitiesAnswer phones and take messages when working inside administrative area, answer all emails and voicemails on all staff phonesEnforce all HELP rules and standardsProvide direct supervision of all residents during assigned shift. Maintain and complete the hourly logReport all program violations before the end of shiftProvides crisis intervention as neededSupervises residents' ingestion of prescribed and over the counter medications and documents medication complianceCompletes all required paperwork and logs, including incident reports, runaway reports and resident tracking log before the end of shiftProvides transportation to appointments when necessarySupervises and assists residents while completing daily choresMonitors residents at meal time to ensure equal distribution of foodOther duties as assigned by supervisorAll other job-related duties as assigned by management for needs of the businessThe ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of local social service agencies and programs as they pertain to homeless and at-risk youthExperience and understanding of homeless at-risk youth issuesCommunicate effectively with persons from a variety of social, cultural and sensitivity to culturally diverse populationsEffective written, verbal and listening skills. Independently initiates and responds to correspondenceAbility to maintain order and exercise appropriate judgment in crisis situationsIs flexible and can adjust to shifting prioritiesEstablish and maintain cooperative working relationships with residents, fellow employees, other agencies and the general publicOrganize work schedule and budget timeUnderstand and follow all agency policies and proceduresGeneral computer knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office softwareAbility to work flexible hoursRequired Qualifications: Proof of Highschool Graduation or GEDActive NV Driver's License and Clean DMV driving recordPreferred Qualifications: Active Health CardActive CPR/ Frist Aid CertificationCrisis Prevention Institute CertificationPrevious experience working in a social service setting
