Service Technician Job Summary
Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a proven sales performance record through customer recommendations, service upgrades, and solution-based selling.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment in residential or commercial environments.
- Diagnose electrical issues and determine effective repair solutions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit systems.
- Connect wiring to lighting fixtures, switches, relays, outlets, and circuit breaker panels.
- Test electrical systems and circuit continuity to ensure safety, functionality, and code compliance.
- Perform preventative maintenance and respond to service calls in a timely manner.
- Recommend system improvements, upgrades, and replacement options based on customer needs.
- Maintain a proven sales record by identifying opportunities for additional services, equipment upgrades, and maintenance agreements.
- Build strong customer relationships through professional communication and high-quality service.
- Complete service documentation and maintain accurate records of repairs and installations.
- Follow all company safety procedures and local electrical codes.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or vocational/technical training preferred
- 1-2 years of electrical or field service experience
- Proven sales record with the ability to recommend products and services confidently
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and safety practices
- Ability to read technical diagrams and blueprints
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls efficiently
