In Evart, Michigan, we operate two specialized trauma-informed programsRiver Oak Youth Center and Osceola Youth Centerproviding structured, therapeutic care for youth in need of stabilization and growth.River Oak Youth Center serves girls ages 12 to 17 in a residential setting focused on mental health support. Osceola Youth Center supports boys ages 10 to 17 who require behavioral stabilization. Both centers offer individualized care that blends clinical therapy, educational instruction, expressive arts, social skills training, and life skills development.Youth typically remain in care for 6 to 9 months, participating in individual, family, and group therapy; restorative justice; victim-impact awareness; and pre-vocational preparation. This role is ideal for professionals looking to grow in youth residential services and behavioral health. The Shift Supervisor ensures the safe and effective operation of the facility and provides leadership and direction to staff working directly with youth in our care.Residential Shift Supervisor ResponsibilitiesSupervise staff, assign duties, evaluate performance, and provide training and corrective guidanceAssist with developing staff schedules and ensuring adequate coverage for safe and effective facility operationsMonitor facility security and ensure compliance with state regulations and agency policiesOversee youth behavior management, review incidents, and investigate grievancesSupervise medication administration and ensure accurate documentationAssist with youth appointments, transports, and intake/discharge proceduresCommunicate regularly with leadership regarding staffing, safety, and operational concernsConduct security checks, monitor electronic systems, and oversee room searches as neededProvide emergency response coordination during incidents such as fire or severe weatherOther Duties IncludeMaintain a high standard of role model behavior for youthParticipate in required training and professional developmentReport incidents or concerns regarding youth safety or staff conductDocument shift events, staffing updates, and incidents according to policyPerform other duties as assigned or neededRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma required; Bachelors Degree preferredMinimum of 3 years experience working with youth in a residential setting requiredPrior supervisory experience preferredAbility to assess youth with substance abuse, mental health, and trauma historyMust pass background check and drug screeningPreferred SkillsFirst Aid/CPR certified (or ability to obtain during probationary period)Strong leadership, supervision, and conflict resolution skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to collaborate with law enforcement, probation, courts, and caseworkersSensitivity to cultural, gender, and individual differencesPhysical DemandsMust be physically healthy and emotionally stable. Ability to engage with youth, participate in activities, and intervene physically if needed. Must be free from communicable diseases as defined by the state.
