Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThis position will provide daily support of the retail marketplace operations with the responsibility of opening and closing the retail store consistent with normal hours of operation; assists customers with merchandise selections and answers general customer service questions. The associate is the liaison between the service learning interns and work study students. The position will oversee and perform all cashier and inventory aspects of the store using the POS Nation Software system. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.Operating Hours: Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Closed every Wednesday and Sunday. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Opens and closes store for scheduled operating hours.Utilizes Point of Sales Software.Greets and directs shoppers, answers store telephone and performs light office duties.Tracks and maintains all student hours for approval.Assists all vendors, alumni and students with questions and concerns on behalf of the retail incubator.Works closely with customers to determine their needs.Adheres to all operational, merchandise, and loss prevention standards.Maintains all organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the sales floor and participates in the maintenance/cleanliness of the entire store.Performs or related duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: High school diploma or GED.Previous retail and cashier experience.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications; Point of Sales software a plus.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must always maintain professional decorum.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Initiative to take on responsibilities and challenges.Reliable, responsible, and dependable in fulfilling store regulations and rules.Analytical thinking; the ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems.Attention to detail; internship requires being careful about a high level of detail and thorough in completing tasks.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Requires work that involves walking, standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling for an extended time. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work environment risks exposure to no known environmental hazards.
