Job DescriptionJob DescriptionRigger Journeyperson (Norfolk, VA)LEAD Marine DivisionNorfolk, VA, USAFull-Time | ContractBenefits AvailablePay: $23.50 – $26.00/hrShift: Full-Time, 40 hrs/week | Multiple Shifts AvailableWe are seeking an experienced Rigger Journeyperson in Norfolk, VA to support shipyard lifting, moving, and hoisting operations. The Rigger Journeyperson role requires strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint and load chart interpretation, equipment setup proficiency, and the ability to execute safe, precise rigging operations in a fast-paced marine environment.Responsibilities• Perform rigging operations including selecting cables, slings, pulleys, blocks, winches, chains, and sheaves based on weight and load requirements.• Set up cranes, hoisting equipment, and rigging gear; attach blocks and pulleys to fixed structures.• Secure loads using appropriate lifting devices and direct crane operators to ensure safe movement.• Conduct testing on ship cranes, rigging systems, anchors, lifeboats, and rigging equipment.• Interpret crane load charts, blueprints, rigging diagrams, and job specifications.• Maintain safe work practices, comply with OSHA requirements, and operate tools and equipment correctly.• Complete daily work assignments, quality documentation, and Job Completion sign-offs.• Assist and train junior riggers as required; communicate hazards or issues to supervision.Requirements• Must demonstrate proficiency in rigging equipment, lifting gear, hoisting systems, and safe load-handling procedures.• Strong understanding of rigging testing requirements, correct equipment setup, and safe crane operations.• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, load charts, diagrams, and written instructions.• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals (US/metric units).• Must be physically able to wear required PPE (hard hat, respirator, harness, etc.).• Able to climb ladders/scaffolding, work at heights above 12 ft., and work in confined spaces.• Ability to lift/push/pull 50–100 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, kneel, crouch, crawl, and navigate uneven surfaces.• Must pass all required screenings and comply with company nondiscrimination and safety policies.• Must be able to work any assigned shift and overtime as needed.Benefits• Medical Benefits• Paid Sick Leave (Hours-worked eligibility requirement applies)• Paid Holidays (Hours-worked eligibility requirement applies)• Referral Bonus ProgramBenefits are subject to eligibility requirements.To see more available jobs, visit www.leadstaff.com/jobs/About LEAD MarineLEAD Staffing, established in 2010, specializes in Construction, Industrial and Marine Staffing of Skilled Tradespeople throughout the United States of America.
