Location:EAC (Education and Administration Center)Recruiting Start Date:12/12/2025Estimated Start Date:01/12/2026The Risk Management Specialist is responsible for implementing the day-to-day risk management programs and policies that mitigate exposure to risk associated with stakeholders and property; interacts with existing computer software to modify databases reconcile and produce reports; keeps a systematic record of accounts or transactions and prepares statements reflecting those activities; interacts with appropriate parties regarding claim requirements processes and questions.The following statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and other key duties that may be required. The district reserves the right to modify or change the duties or the essential functions of this job at any time.Reports consistently for work as scheduledPerforms other duties as assignedAttains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance StandardsAdvises supervisors on possible avenues of investigation as required Analyzes incoming claims for irregularities previous claims history and possible fraudAssists as a backup to the Workers Compensation specialistAssists in answering routine and complex staff member questions regarding risk management topics and insurance claimsAssists in maintaining compliance with all state and federal laws regulations and district policies regarding workers compensation and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)Assists in the development implementation and training of staff to mitigate exposure to risk and on the job injuryAssists other office staff as neededAssists with daily department activitiesAssists with sorting and opening of mailAssists with the operation of the Risk Management Advisory Committee by developing and presenting reports on insurance claims analyzing claim and trend data and developing and presenting recommendations to reduce accident severity and frequencyAssists with maintaining and updating district risk ledger Assists with insurance inspections including property reviews and appraisal visitsAssists with the preparation and submission of insurance applicationsAssists with the preparation of emergency planning including wildfire and flood management plansConducts timely filing of claims with the districts carriers Coordinates with district departments to provide specific safety training as requested Creates and maintains risk management files records and computer databases including the filing of insurance claims and other documentsDevelops and maintains the active certificates of insurance electronic storage tool on SharePoint. Periodically updates the SharePoint site evaluating when certificates of insurance should be archived or made publicly available.
