RN - Med Surg at Talent Hires

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical provides patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical and post-surgical needs. Working in a dynamic 34-bed Med-Surg unit with an average census of 30 patients, the RN delivers high-quality care while maintaining a staffing ratio of 1:5. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Key Responsibilities • Deliver safe, compassionate, and comprehensive nursing care to adult Med-Surg patients. • Perform detailed assessments, monitor vital signs, and track patient progress throughout hospitalization. • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by providers. • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, case managers, and therapists. • Assist with admissions, discharges, patient education, and care coordination. • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR (highly preferred). • Recognize changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions. • Maintain adherence to infection control standards, safety policies, and evidence-based practices. • Support patient mobility, ADLs, and overall comfort throughout the care process. • Participate in unit huddles, quality improvement initiatives, and staff meetings as required. • Work rotating weekends and holidays per scheduling guidelines. Required Skills & Experience • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical experience – required • Minimum 2 years of RN experience – required • Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and patient care skills • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and time-management abilities • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with diverse patient conditions • EPIC experience – highly preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – required Certifications & Licensure • Registered Nurse (RN) – New York State, in good standing – required • Basic Life Support (BLS – AHA) – required
