Department OverviewDoernbecher Pediatric Acute Care Medical (PACM)PACM 9N Team faces all endeavors with a growth mindset and a people-centered approach in order to provide excellent care to our patients and support a healthy workplace.PACM-9N is a people-centered interdisciplinary team-based system of coordinated patient care. The team will provide individualized excellent care for all pediatric patients by working together with departments and specialists across Doernbecher and OHSU to ensure every patient and family receive the right care at the right place and at the right time by the right people.This position also comes with great benefits! Services that admit to DCH PACM include and are not limited to:General Pediatrics Kaiser Pediatrics Adolescent Health Psychiatry Pulmonology Endocrinology and General Surgery overflow. The PACM nurses partner in care with clinicians dieticians OT/PT services pain services social work case managers child life schoolteachers and pharmacists to provide children with the best possible individualized care.Efficient time management flexibility and prioritization skills to provide excellent patient and family centered care in a busy medical unit.Required to keep up to date with departmental communications by e-mail weekly updates and unit huddles at the beginning of each shift.May be required to transport and provide continuing care and monitoring of patients in locations off-unit to meet patient specific needs.Required QualificationsBSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.A minimum score of 11/18 on the OHSU Nurse Interview Evaluation ToolSuccessful completion of unit orientation Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart AssociationAssociate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hireCurrent unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse LicenseBLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS must not expire during orientation Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodationPreferred Qualifications2 years inpatient pediatric RN experiencePediatric psychiatric experience preferredCPN certification or other applicable pediatric specialty certificationQuality Matching:Self-reflective self-directed learner who achieves progressive growthIdentify gaps in knowledge and initiate seeking resources to identify and manage risks and practice safely with a wide variety of patient populationsAble to advance plan of careExcellent time managementIntegrate into a high functioning and collaborative team:Speaking up about assignments troubleshooting alternativesInquiring about performance improvement changesActively participating in huddles quality improvement and team buildingSpeaking up and advocating for patient safety communication and best practicesAdditional DetailsLength of Orientation Experienced NurseExternal candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area.
