The Registered Nurse – Pediatrics provides compassionate, evidence-based, and family-centered care to pediatric patients across a range of specialized units, including Pediatric ICU, NICU, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and Pediatric Med-Surg/Telemetry. This position requires advanced clinical competence, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in high-acuity environments while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities • Deliver direct nursing care to pediatric patients according to the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. • Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and manage complex pediatric conditions using advanced clinical skills. • Utilize specialized equipment and technology safely and effectively in critical and acute pediatric care settings. • Provide emotional support, education, and clear communication to patients and families to promote understanding and trust. • Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency situations, ensuring adherence to hospital safety and infection control protocols. • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure coordinated and high-quality care. • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record system. • Support the floating needs of the hospital by providing care across multiple pediatric units as required. Required Skills & Experience • Minimum of 2 years’ pediatric nursing experience in the following areas: • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) • Pediatric Hematology/Oncology • Pediatric Telemetry/Medical-Surgical • Demonstrated clinical competence in pediatric acute and critical care settings. • Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. • Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English fluently. • Proficient in electronic medical record systems and data entry. Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required Licensure & Certifications • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – New York State – Required • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Required
