With more than 13000 employees around the world we are committed to using our energy and heart to drive a better tomorrow.What you will do Role Overview: The ROCC Operator will be responsible for directing monitoring and coordinating the operation of EDPR NA wind assets from the Remote Operations Control Center (ROCC). You will ensure that the operations of Wind Power Plants (WPP) comply with all applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards and practices. You should be able to work well independently with guidance in only complex situations.Main responsibilities: Monitor real-time control center operations and the performance of wind farms across the US and apply established procedures in order to guarantee maximum availability sale of energy and wind farm serviceReport and document the status of forced and planned plant outages to Regional Transmission Organization/ Independent System Operators ( RTO/ISO)Develop and implement effective strategies to maximize the WPP value by capturing profit opportunities in the real-time power marketsEvaluate system alarms and irregularities taking corrective action as outlined in established guidelinesEnsure quality and accuracy of EDPR NA real-time generation information being tele-metered to RTO/ISOCall-out field and emergency service personnel when appropriateDirect electrical substation switching at EDPR NA facilities using a detailed understanding of the Companys electrical switching practicesEnsure turbine and substation data integrity for internal databases used for reporting purposesUse OEM SCADA (Original Equipment Manufacturer Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) to control the real and reactive power of the 5 unique types of turbines now in useMaintain understanding of the energy markets where Company assets are locatedMaintain understanding of commercial practices as they relate to managing merchant power pricing and schedulingAdditional duties as requiredEmployment type Full-timeWork site Houston Office - Hybrid ScheduleWhat are we looking for Minimum Requirements: Associates degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience3 years in power system operations power production or related energy operationsMust be willing to obtain EDPR NA ROCC Operator certification within 9 months from the date of hireMust already have or be willing to obtain PJM System Operator certification within 12 months from the date of hireThorough knowledge of AC theory and power flow; Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software OSI PI and database development and managementBilingual in English/SpanishTravel: NoneBehavioral Requirements: Ability to use multiple OEM SCADA applicationsAbility to understand and put into practice energy market selling processesAbility to influence individuals and groupsStrong interpersonal skillsStrong background in electrical AC theory and power flowHigh attention to detail and ability to be self-motivatedStrong analytical and quantitative skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to perform job tasks in a collaborative working environmentAvailability and willingness to work a rotating schedule as assigned with shifts comprising a 24-hour seven days per week operationPhysical demands & working conditions: Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environmentSpeech/Reading: Ability to speak read and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal diagram or schedule formLifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 poundsVision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal diagram or schedule formSafety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessaryEqual opportunities for allOur vision is that each person combines their unique characteristics and experiences to fulfill our mission of creating new energy for the planet.
