Job Description

Fosters directly and indirectly by action example and training a comprehensive safety program. Monitors potential health and safety conditions of the workplace; identifies problems recommends solutions and ensures that the on-going safety system is corrected to incorporate the changes. Developing methodologies projects and metrics for enterprise-wide incorporation; and partners with site and Divisional leadership to establish and drive programs and metrics to achieve business objectives.Safety Primary Responsibility:Develops and audits safety procedures practices and activities that support business goals and objectivesImplements through supervisors and managers an effective safety performance tracking and measurement system. Collaborates on a scheduled basis with management/departments to interpret the results and effects of the corrective actionsLeads line supervision and Safety team members in the development of required revisions to existing procedures rules and regulationsKeeps abreast of technical developments and OSHA related regulations that affect the safety considerations for operations. Incorporates new information into existing operations where applicableLeads the review of all incidents. Responsible for effective operations record keeping and OSHA document compliance and working with Workers Compensation and management to mitigate future incidentsConsults with Engineering and Maintenance departments on major plans and specifications for new or proposed changes in process equipment or methods and reviews for compliance with safety standards before acceptance or useCollaborates with supervision in the administration of the Light Duty Work Program and in the assignment of eligible employees in accordance with established practicesDrives safety requirements to Engineering and Maintenance departments regarding outside contractors safety requirementsMaintains knowledge of the Corporate Loss Control Program manuals rules and regulations and in proper communication of such programs rules and regulationsAssists and advises supervisory staff in proper administration of the Corporate Loss Control Program including but not limited to:Discusses complaints and suggestions received in writing relating to safety conditions with the affected supervisionBy observation of physical conditions and work practices detects lack of conformity with the Loss Control Program and drives the corrective action with supervisionProvides technical training on observing unsafe acts to management and supervision and monitors the training effectivenessContinuous Improvement Accountability:Coach teach and lead techniques to the leadership and business teams to drive improvement in organization. Develop mentoring of senior and high potential leadership to assure tools are understood and utilized in daily activities.Lead standardized 6S programs and assure sites have personnel and programs to achieve objectives.Develop programs with regular report outs of metrics and independent audits to assure compliance for Continuous Improvement programs.Develop and populate a Project Library that can be accessed for leveraged learning over the sites.
