SAMPLE CUSTODIANICF is seeking a SAMPLE CUSTODIAN to support an EPA contract Environmental Services Assistance Team (ESAT) in Port Orchard Washington location is a federal government lab.This team performs soil water air waste and tissue sample analysis for chemical contaminants primarily supporting Superfund site assessment remediation and emergency response but also for compliance under the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Clean Water Act. The team supports EPAs ambient air monitoring programs through sampling air for Pb and particulates and auditing ambient air analyzers for ozone carbon monoxide sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxide under the Clean Air Act.Job Description:ICF is looking for SAMPLE CUSTODIAN who will be responsible for performing all the different aspects of shipping receiving storing distributing and logging archiving and preparing for disposal of samples. Duties include opening coolers and inspecting contents of shipments checking documentation to ensure contents of cooler are accurately listed distributing sample containers to appropriate storage locations entering the information into a laboratory information management system (LIMS) and organizing spent samples for disposal. The position requires strict adherence to standard operating procedures health and safety policies and practices and quality control in this environment requires the use of safety equipment including but not limited to eye safety glasses gloves and other personal protective equipment. The Sample Custodian ensures that work area is clean and organized including storing restocking supplies and shelving samples as necessary. Duties may also include assisting with sample preparation and laboratory successful candidate must be able to work both independently and as member of a team of chemists and technicians.Basic Qualifications:Associates Degree and 3 years of laboratory experience or a High School Diploma or GED with 6 years of laboratory experience.Ability to move around stand for long periods of time sit for long periods of time tolerate exposure to cool temperatures and squat and lift containersAble to lift and carry 40 poundsUS citizenship is required per federal contract requirements.Must be able to pass an EPA background check to obtain access to US federal property.Preferred QualificationsExcellent verbal interpersonal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlinesMust be computer literate and experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel).
