Sample Management Technician at SGS

Our Reno NV laboratory is looking for an entry-level Technician to join their Sample Management Team!  The Sample Management Technicians primary responsibilities are to receive samples prepare bottle kits for clients deliver samples to the lab dispose of expired samples work in shipping and receiving answer phones and greet clients upon arrival. Job functions:Receives/unpacks sample coolers and containers and documents the receipt in an efficient and timely mannerVerifies and records sample receipt temperaturePerforms preservation checks on aqueous samples with various containersCreates jobs enters bottle records and generates bottle labels using LIMS in accordance with chain of custody (COC)Applies sample labels to sample containersTransfers samples between sample reception cold or ambient storage areas and laboratory departmentsPrepare client bottle kitsMaintains all required documentation with accuracy and clarityRemoves historical samples for completed jobs and assigns samples for disposal; disposes of expired samplesCommunicates sample information to Client Services team and lab operations to ensure timelyAdheres to lab and sample management SOPs to ensure that proper sample handling procedures are followedProvides exceptional customer service to internal and external clientsAnswer phone calls and greets clients upon arrivalPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications : High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)Advanced English language skills (Required)Strong customer service skills (Required)Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 50 lbs on a constant basis (Required)Experience in an environmental laboratory (Preferred)Associate degree in science-related field (Preferred)Additional Information : SGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer and as such we recruit hire train and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race color religion sex national origin disability age marital status sexual orientation gender identity or expression genetics status as a protected veteran or any other characteristics protected by law.To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
