JOB DESCRIPTION

Saw Operator

Join our team as a Saw Operator, working flexible hours on the 1st shift from 5am to 3pm, Monday through Thursday, with additional hours on Friday and Saturday as needed. This role involves cutting stock of various sizes, up to 36 inches in diameter, using precision tools and saws.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret tape measures to cut stock at precise lengths, accurate to 1/16th of an inch.
  • Operate various saws, including band saws and circular saws, to cut large materials.
  • Analyze blueprints and shop drawings to determine the final size and shape of the blocks to be cut from raw material.
  • Devise efficient cutting methods to maximize material usage.
  • Operate machinery according to training documents and adjust machine controls to maintain proper size parts.
  • Install saw blades and ensure proper placement of guards, and set up saw operations using tools.
  • Load and unload parts being cut, and adjust machines to produce precise sizes and shapes as required.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in machine operation.
  • Proficiency in reading tape measures.
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to use basic math to calculate the best way to cut blocks of raw material.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Prior saw experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Knowledge of tools for various operations and work holding methods.
  • Understanding of cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cuts.
  • No certifications required.

Work Environment:

The work takes place in a graphite machine shop, which is a very dirty and potentially dusty environment. Conditions can be cold in winter and hot in summer. Work is conducted in a team environment with typically five employees on duty per shift. There are opportunities for advancement to machinist roles, and the company provides uniforms and showers for personal comfort. It's a smaller, family-owned company that fosters a great family environment.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, PA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
