Carolina Bearing Repair Service Center, a division of Timken Power Systems, is currently seeking a Service Center Technician 3 to support operations for the Union, SC site. This is an upper level operative position that is responsible for machining, grinding, inspection, welding, and gauge setup at the Carolina Service Center. This is a Dayshift, Monday-Thursday position. Responsibilities:BUILD UPPerform final build up / inspection of taper roller bearings and determine the final spacer size requirements for the bearing's lateral clearance. Must have the ability to read print, use gaging and techniques and calculate the spacer sizes. GAGE SETAbility to set any gauge needed for productionAbility to create temp masterFINAL INSPECTIONMeasure critical dimension on wide range of products. Ability to read a print. Ability to set up a gage to measure required dimensions. Ability to properly record information for internal and external use. High risk of scrap and external visibility if not performed properly.GRINDINGAbility to set up and operate a grinding machine. Various grinding machines are used within the facility. Each requiring a specific knowledge of how to operate. Ability to read a print and use the gaging required to measure product before and after grind. High risk of scrap involved. MACHINISTAbility to set up and operate a machining machine. Various machining machines are used within the facility. Each require a specific knowledge of how to operate. Ability to read a print and use the gaging required to measure the product. High risk of scrap involved.WELDAbility to operate a TIG welder in order to perform the welding assembly of finished product.This process includes 2 unique welding processes: 1 - welding of pin type cages 2 - welding of stamp steel cages. High risk of scrap resulting from poor performance. ROLLER MANUFACTURINGSet up and operate roller finishing (HT or grinding) machines. Various machines are used based on roller type and size. Requires specific knowledge of how to operate. Ability to read a print and use specialized gauging for sizing and qualifying rollers. Technical/Functional Requirements:Basic math skills 3-5 years manufacturing experienceAbility to operate industrial hand tools Ability to operate powered industrial trucksAbility to read blueprints Gauging with micrometers, dial indicators, etc.Advanced gauging (e.g., CMM, CPG, etc.) Quality systems awarenessGood communication and teamwork skills Basic computer skillsGrinding, machining, welding education or experience Good attention to detailAbility to safely handle and transport large and heavy partsEducation:HIGH SCHOOL-GRAD or EQUIV requiredPrevious Job Experience:General manufacturing experienceMachining education/experience Setup and operation of machines All qualified applicants shall be treated equally according to their individual qualifications, abilities, experiences and other employment standards.
