Lastly, collaboration is vital to our business and line of work; therefore, our team members must be able to communicate and build relationships with multiple cross functional departments across the organization.Position Overview The Scale Operator’s primary functions are to ensure each and every truck entering and leaving the facility is properly weighed, the delivered or shipped scrap is accurately recorded, and the daily paperwork and transactions are updated and closed. This individual reports directly to the Transportation Manager.Summary of ResponsibilitiesProcesses and closes all dispatch /driver tickets and enters required information into the databaseCoordinates with Dispatch and Inside Sales to ensure shippers and receivers are being generated and updated accurately by the required deadlinesMaintains testing records and reports any issues/malfunctions with the Bicorn or other scale equipmentAscertains the customer’s name, job location, and pickup dates for each delivery in order to accurately process this informationBegins, updates and closes each scale record ticket into the database / softwareReviews proper documentation for all deliveries and pick-upsAlways representing the company in a professional and courteous mannerHandles clerical/data entry functions assigned by the managerEnsures efficient scale operations and scale flowEnsures all trucks are properly and accurately weighed on the scale both entering and leaving the facilityRequired CharacteristicsHigh School Diploma or GED required, college degree or some college a plus2 years’ experience in a similar role, equivalent transportation or scale related experience a plusOrganized and able to work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong math and calculator skills a mustDemonstrated professionalism and a personality conducive to the role –enjoys working with people and is patient during challenging situationsAbility to work with others and work as part of a teamProficient with computer / data entry skill; ability to learn new software with provided trainingStrong attention to detail and accuracy a mustMust be open to working a Saturday schedule rotationEnglish proficiency (read, write, speak) required; spoken Spanish a plusThe Company desires a candidate who has shown a stable job history, dependable attendance practices and whose references can state is a trustworthy individualCandidate must pass a pre-employment physical, background and credit checkAble to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the manager and / or business needs of the operationMinimum Safety Training RequirementsBasic on-the-job training that satisfies the Primary Objectives of the specific position (as noted above)US-SOP-01 United in Safety ManualUS-F11 QEH&S PolicyUS-SOP-03 Team Member Handbook We strive to demonstrate our Core Values in all positions at USM: Trust ● Commitment ● Loyalty ● Passion ● Performance ● Service ● Performance USM is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
