This position focuses on two research areas:Generative AI Security studying adversarial robustness trustworthy AI and vulnerabilities in large-scale machine learning systems.Information Freshness in Wireless Networks analyzing and optimizing timeliness of information delivery latency and age-of-information metrics in networked systems.This role is ideal for graduate students who want to develop advanced research skills while contributing to cutting-edge projects in computing AI and wireless communication.TYPICAL ACTIVITIESGraduate Assistants may:Conduct literature reviews and summarize research findings.Assist with experiments simulations coding and data analysis.Develop and test research software or tools (e.g. for AI or wireless simulation).Prepare reports manuscripts or conference papers.Visualize results and contribute to research presentations.Participate in regular research meetings with the supervising faculty member.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be a current CSUSB graduate student in Computer Science Computer Engineering or a closely related field.Minimum GPA: 3.0Strong programming ability (e.g. Python C or Java).Effective written and oral communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSDegree in hand by time of appointment.PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONSCoursework or project experience in machine learning AI cybersecurity or wireless networks.Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch TensorFlow) generative AI models (e.g. large language models diffusion models) or network simulation tools (e.g. ns-3).Prior research experience in academia or industry.Proficiency with LaTeX and technical writing.SPECIAL CONDITIONSThe person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.Following a conditional offer of employment a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB.
