If you are unsure whether you have been awarded Work-Study please contact the Financial Aid office at .Looking for highly motivated students who want to make a difference in the community. You will be working with local students in 7th-12th grade to tutor and mentor them in various subject matter. Students will have an information session with the Director/Assistant Director before they start their role.DEPARTMENT:STEP- Science and Technology Entry ProgramLOCATION:Kenney Center for Community Engagement and OutreachSTUDENT SUPERVISORS: Kevin TrigonisWORK AVAILABLE:Week Days/Possible WeekendsRATE OF PAY: $12.70/hrThe Science and Technology Entry Program was established in 1985 by the NYS Legislature to prepare historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students for entry into post-secondary degree programs in math science technology health-related fields and licensed professions.POSSIBLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Tutor students in grades 7-12 to enhance their academic support system In-person Mentor at Schenectady Middle Schools (Tuesday/Thursday 3-5pm) Help run Saturday STEM workshops (usually 9am-1pm) Report notes to the STEP Staff Help with administrative work within the department Create programming and experiences for the STEP StudentsQUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: Looking for personable trustworthy and detail-oriented individuals Great overall communication skills Able to communicate well in-person over the phone or over Zoom Must be passionate about working with students in grades 7-12 Proficient with utilizing Zoom and ExcelLocation: Schenectady NYE-Verify Participation:Union College participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.
