You are energetic and confident, and will encourage your teammates to achieve and be positive while being entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the best possible experience for your guests at all times in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner.As Seamstress, you will create, repair, and tailor garments, uniforms, and fabrics to meet the highest standards of quality and presentation. You will follow design specifications, tailoring techniques, and maintenance guidelines to ensure every piece is crafted to perfection. Simultaneously, you will maintain compliance with hotel procedures and safety standards in the handling and care of materials.What you will be doing: Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging serviceEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisorsAssisting Supervisor in completion of special requests or misc. projectsComplete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.Sign in and out master keys, radios/mobile electronics dailyBe familiar with Hotel's technology and communication platforms, and utilize to ensure hotel operation and guest satisfactionAssist associates with fitting and issuing of uniformsAssist associates with retrieval of uniforms and/or locker bagsSort dirty linen and check pockets for miscellaneous belongingsUse of uniform system to pull reports, daily/weekly/monthlyAssist associates with uniform repairs/replacementEnsure that conveyor is properly functioning at all timesAccurately measure associates using tape measures to ensure proper fit of garmentsEnsuring that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working orderAltering or repairing garments and other articles, which include hemming, mending, lengthening, as well as taking in and letting out seamsFitting garments on associates to determine how the alterations should be doneLabeling garments and other articles and recording the alterations requiredUsing irons and pressing machines to erase the creases on garments and other articlesCommunicate with 3rd party vendor for pick/up and drop off of uniforms and guest's dry/cleaningReturn and properly tag all lost and found articles in the Housekeeping OfficeFollow all departmental policies and procedures and service standardsReport necessary maintenance itemsAdhere to local and externally relevant health and safety laws and policiesFamiliarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)Familiarity with all public restrooms, offices and meeting spaces within buildingFollow all safety and sanitation policiesOther duties as assignedWhat is in it for you:Discounted hotel rooms and food & beverage rates to employees at our sister properties around the globe.We provide learning programs through our Academies to promote growth and development so that you can perform at your full potentialOpportunity to develop your talent and grow within your property and across the world!Ability to make a difference through our Corporate Social Responsibility activities, like Planet 21 and WATCHHourly Rate: $31.75(Break-In Rate applicable for New Hires as per CBA)Schedule based on Seniority and Business NeedsQualificationsYour experience and skills include:Ability to follow instruction, work with others and work independentlyAbility to communicate fluently with our guests and associatesAbility to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervisionPrevious Customer Service experience an assetPrevious Laundry Valet experience an assetIntegrity and works well when Supervisors are not presentAbility to manage own time efficientlyAbility to safely handle heavy equipment and machineryAble to work safely with a variety of cleaning suppliesAble to use basic cleaning equipmentAble to use equipment found in commercial laundry facilitiesKnowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniquesGood hand-eye coordinationFamiliarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)Highly responsible and reliableSpoken and written English preferredSome spoken and written Spanish is beneficial but not requiredAdditional InformationYour team and working environment:What was true in 1966 remains true to this day: The Century Plaza Hotel is part of a visionary development intent on doing what others could only imagine.
