Security Engineer at TEKsystems

Defend the company against current and emerging cyber threats by monitoring, analyzing, and responding to incidents. Lead projects, develop playbooks, and implement proactive measures to strengthen security posture. Collaborate with IT, Threat Management, and other teams to ensure effective incident response and threat mitigation.Key Responsibilities* Analyze internal and external cyber threat intelligence to assess risk and recommend mitigation strategies.* Perform advanced threat hunting and pivot analysis to identify vulnerabilities and prevent attacks.* Develop and maintain incident response playbooks; conduct regular testing and lessons learned reviews.* Operate and optimize security tools (SIEM, firewalls, IPS, vulnerability scanners) and create custom countermeasures.* Monitor emerging threats, track threat actor activity, and maintain industry relationships for intelligence sharing.* Lead strategic projects to enhance cyber defense capabilities and reporting methods.* Lead the incident response process, ensuring timely execution and tracking of commitments.* Develop and maintain incident response playbooks to standardize procedures.* Conduct monthly incident response tests to improve readiness (previously every 15 months).* Organize and document lessons learned following incidents to drive continuous improvement.* Partner with operations teams to execute and refine incident response processes.* Collaborate closely with IT, Threat Management (TM), and Emergency Preparedness teams.* Coordinate with physical security and IT teams to ensure effective response to incidents.Hybrid onsite 3x a week: Tuesday-Thursday in Novi.*Skills*Cyber security, Firewall, Siem, Network security, Vulnerability management, tenable, qradar, anomaly detection*Additional Skills & Qualifications*Associate II Level: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical area OR Bachelor's degree in non-related field with one (1) year of experience in Information Technology OR four (4) years of experience in Information Technology field in lieu of degree or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education Intermediate Level: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical area with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Network Security or Information Technology, or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education. Hands-on experience with SIEM operations, intrusion detection/prevention, penetration testing, and network forensics.Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, COBIT) and multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac).Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to influence and collaborate across teams.Preferred: Experience as Threat Researcher or Intelligence Analyst; ability to create Snort/YARA signatures.*Job Type & Location*This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Novi, MI.*Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
