Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:The National WWII Museum is currently seeking a Security Officer for the evening shift. Reporting to the Director of Security and under the direct supervision of shift supervisors, the Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and volunteers as well as property. This role involves the prevention of unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other illegal or unsafe behavior. Security Officers are expected to respond promptly to incidents, enforce policies, and provide exceptional customer service while upholding the museum’s security protocols.Requirements:Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish a visible presence.Perform security checks of doors, windows, gates, and fences.Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and access control systems.Control access to buildings and restricted areas; verifies identification of staff and visitors.Respond to emergencies and incidents including fire alarms, medical situations, or security threats.Report and document incidents accurately using daily activity reports and incident reports.Enforces organizational rules, regulations, and procedures consistently.Assist in emergency evacuation procedures and provides first response as needed.Conduct security inspections of buildings, vehicles, equipment, and visitor bags.Provide escort services for staff, contractors, or visitors when requested.Communicate effectively with law enforcement, emergency services, and internal teams as required; communicates via security equipment according to department protocols.Participate in training and ongoing professional development.Complete all other reasonable tasks and duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.Prior experience in a security, military, or law enforcement role preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and experience with security equipment and surveillance systems.CPR / First Aid certification a plus.Strong observation and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.Physically fit and capable of standing or patrolling for extended periods.Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.A current and valid driver’s license is requiredIn addition to offering competitive wages, the Museum’s benefits package includes: Medical insurance – 2 plan options; Museum pays 75% of premium Dental and vision insurance Flexible spending account 401(k) – Museum matches 50% of employee contribution up to 6%; employer contribution fully vested after 3 years of employment Life insurance and AD&D - $15,000 policy employer paid; additional life and AD&D available Long term disability insurance Paid vacation and sick leave, 10 paid holidays per year Free parking Tuition assistance and professional development Employee assistance program The National WWII Museum is an Equal Opportunity Employer and seeks diversity in its workforce.
