Job Purpose: This position is responsible for the surveillance of the building and the safety of all personnel.

  • Patrols and monitors an assigned area; reports suspicious activities to local authorities.
  • Monitors surveillance cameras, inspects property, and monitors crowds.
  • Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.
  • After business hours, checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure.
  • Investigates reports of suspicious activity on the property.
  • Conducts inspection of personal belongings or packages due to reasonable suspicion at the guidance of HR, Plant Management or the Safety Director.
  • Reasonably detains persons suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives.
  • Escorts discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Required qualifications:

  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Authoritative verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.
  • Security positions require you pass applicable drug screen and background check required by state regulations


Education/Certification/etc required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as an armed guard preferred.
  • This position requires individuals to have or be able to obtain and maintain active guard and firearm permits or licenses on a current basis as required by state regulations.
  • Must currently have and be able to maintain an active driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • First aid, CPR AED certifications (preferred)


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to patrol the property and access areas quickly.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and monitoring surveillance equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person and by radio.
