Senior Accountant (On Site)

Job Summary
The Senior Accountant (on site) is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the accounting team, providing guidance to Accounting Specialists, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of journal entries, month-end closing activities, and compliance requirements. This role supports the Controller in maintaining strong internal controls, financial accuracy, and process efficiency across the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day direction, training, and workload coordination for Accounting Specialists, ensuring accuracy and adherence to department procedures.
- Review work prepared by accounting staff, including reconciliations, AP invoices, and journal entries.
- Prepare and review recurring, reversing, and ad-hoc journal entries.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy through timely reconciliations, adjustments, and variance review.
- Assist in closing procedures, including accruals, reconciliations, suspense account cleanup, and financial statement review.
- Support the Controller with month-end analysis and reporting packages.
- Assist with preparation and documentation for tax filings, including sales/use tax, property tax, and year-end tax support.
- Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes, workflows, and system utilization.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis reports as needed.
- Control capital equipment and expenditures using fixed assets software. This includes building, moving, and deleting assets on a monthly basis. Also, coordinates an annual fixed asset review with the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. (CPA/CMA/MBA preferred)
35+ years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to general ledger and month-end close.
Experience supervising or mentoring staff preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP, journal entries, month-end cycles, and tax fundamentals.
Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor preferred).
Highly proficient in Excel
