Senior Accountant at VSP Vision

Perform complex professional accounting work in the recording and reporting of financial transactions. Prepares financial statements, insurance department and other regulatory filings, and performs analyses.Ensures the timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entityPrepares work papers, financial statements, and various reports for internal accounting and auditingResearches and analyzes fluctuations between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amountsWorks with independent auditors and insurance department auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirementsPrepares insurance department quarterly and annual statements including the conversion from GAAP accounting to statutory accountingRecommends changes in accounting systems and proceduresAssist business partners with budget activity, proper expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting-related activitiesReviews the work completed by the bookkeepers, bank reconcilers, and accounts payable clerks to ensure accurate financial transactionsAssists in the training of technical and clerical personnelJob SpecificationsTypically has the following skills or abilities: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience4+ years of accounting-related experience, including working in a lead and/or training capacity4+ years of experience using accounting and auditing principles and practices, including GAAP and statutory accountingExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in spreadsheet applicationsClean credit history as reported by credit reportRegularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job dutiesPreferred Skills:The position will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of our Onsite Clinics business, with heavy business partnership and cross-functional collaboration.Knowledge of the optical industry, experience with inventory accounts and the SAP financial system are a plus.#LI-VISIONCARECompensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
